Just as we pay attention to sustainable fibers and short delivery routes in production, the same applies to the packaging of our products. Packaging is used to protect our products, simplify storage and transportation and our hangtags in particular often contain the legal requirements and information about our parts. Packaging is therefore an important component and it is important to produce it as sustainably and environmentally friendly as possible. Since 2017, we have been relying on a plastic-free and sustainable packaging solution with recycled waste paper. In order to keep delivery routes for the packaging as short as possible, we use the two types of waste paper available in Turkey.

Where are Chillaz clothes produced?
Our main textile production is located in Turkey. To be precise, to the west of the Bosporus, i.e. Europe in geographical terms. We have been working closely with our local partners for more than 20 years and have built up and developed our production with them. This is the only way we can meet our high quality standards. The required fabrics and fibers come from well-known manufacturers in Turkey, Austria and Italy. In recent years, we have added other manufacturers in the EU (Croatia, Italy, Poland and Slovenia) who specialize in certain products in our collection.
Is Chillaz clothing vegan?
Not 100%, some of our hats and some warm items in the collection are made of wool. In general, however, we try to avoid animal ingredients. If you want to be on the safe side, you can look up the exact composition in each product description. All the leather patches you find on our clothing are made of artificial leather and are therefore also vegan.
How sustainably are Chillaz products produced?
Unfortunately, sustainability is a word that is used far too frequently and imprecisely. For us, it goes without saying that we treat people and the environment fairly. We prefer to describe what we do as "business with common sense".
Our materials are carefully selected, from the fibers to the dyes we use. We rely in particular on natural and ecologically efficient fibers such as TENCEL™ (Modal and Lyocell) from Austria. Thanks to modern production facilities, we are able to further reduce water consumption and the use of chemicals.
Short distances are also very important to us. Most of the materials we use come from Turkey itself or from Europe. This protects both the environment and our nerves. As we take care of production in Turkey ourselves, we are also very flexible. We are quickly on site with our seamstresses, launderers, printers and dyers etc.. Of course, we can't look over everyone's shoulder, but we choose our suppliers and producers very carefully.
Does Chillaz use organic cotton?
Due to the difficulty of traceability, we do not use cotton certified as "organic". There is far more supply of this type of cotton than is actually produced globally. The many organic certificates and labels do nothing to change this. As long as we cannot say with a clear conscience that our cotton fabrics are really 100% organic, we keep our hands off them. Nevertheless, we are striving to take the step towards certified organic cotton, as the production of conventional cotton in particular requires an enormous amount of chemicals. So far, we have been using TENCEL™ (Modal and Lyocell) in many of our products in combination with verifiably high-quality cotton from trusted retailers.

If your size is sold out at all retailers in your area, none will be displayed so that you can save yourself the trip.

Yes, because we don't produce any food that can spoil or leak, 99% of our clothes are protected in recycled paper packaging. However, the paper packaging does have one small disadvantage - it does not protect the products from moisture. To guarantee safe arrival at Chillaz headquarters and also at the retailers, our products in the boxes are also surrounded by a large plastic bag to protect the goods. Here too, however, we are already working on other, more sustainable solutions.

Only during transportation from our production to the Chillaz headquarters is a large plastic bag used in the box to protect our products from moisture or other influences during the journey. But here too, we are already looking for other solutions.
